He was born in Barcelona in 1978 and currently works as a general and digestive surgeon (MIR 2003; order number 79) Head of the Endocrine-Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Unit of the Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital of Badalona and Head of the General and Digestive Surgery Service of the Quirón Badalona Hospital. Subspecialized in obesity surgery (certified by SECO as an expert), esophagogastric and endocrine surgery; accredited in robotic surgery since 2013, he has also developed bariatric robotic surgery programs at Vall d’Hebron and Clínic hospitals in Barcelona. Graduated (2002, extraordinary award, best record of the promotion and San Nicolás Foundation Award of the RANM) and PhD (2006, extraordinary award) in Medicine from the Complutense University of Madrid. Accredited as University Professor by ANECA and AQU, he is currently director of the “iVascular Surgery Research Chair-UAB” at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He has received specific training in innovation and teaching quality and he is director of 21 doctoral theses. Principal investigator in 3 Health Research Projects (FIS) and another as IC all of them related to my area of subspecialization as well as 4 consolidated cooperative research teams. He has tried to maintain a translational research profile being for me of great interest the pathophysiological bases of diseases susceptible to be treated surgically. Currently he is also implementing lines related to digital transformation in surgery, especially in the area of robotics and data science. He is co-author of more than 130 papers indexed in JCR in with a cumulative IF over 300 with an h-index of 27 and more than 2,650 citations. Member of 8 scientific societies in 3 of them he is part of the board of directors (currently, member of the Scientific Committee of the ACS). He is also a reviewer of the main journals in my area, he has been senior editor of Cirugía Española (AEC) and member of the Council of the British Journal of Surgery Foundation and of the Surgical Infection Society Europe. Regular evaluator of the ANEP, he has collaborated in various projects of quality care (surgical infection), including strategic collaborations with the European Union, Generalitat de Catalunya or Ministry of Health as well as various consultancies for Facme, Fenin, FINBA or companies such as Tecnalia.
