Dr. Nakajima’s expertise is minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery. He has published over 300 peer-reviewed articles including 38 top-author original articles, 8 textbook chapters, and edited/co-edited 7 books. He has served as a faculty member for national and international surgical congresses including JSES, ELSA, SAGES and EAES, and editorial board member for major journals including Surgical Endoscopy. 

Reflecting his strong interest on innovation of surgical techniques and development of medical devices, Dr. Nakajima has established an academia-industry consortium (Project ENGINE) and has served as PI since 2008. To date, he has filed > 160 patent applications and has commercialized 28 items.
