This year the iSMIT congress will feature several satellite events, such as the annual congress of the Spanish Society of Surgical Research (SEIQ), the annual Symposium of the Spanish Society of Laproscopic and Robotic Surgery (SECLA) and the AI4polypNET Thematic Network challenge.
This will provide a unique ecosystem to discover the latest advances in research in minimally invasive surgical therapies, innovation in laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgical techniques, as well as novel diagnostic systems based on Artificial Intelligence.

The Annual Congress of the Spanish Society for Surgical Research (SEIQ; https://congresoseiq.com/) is a scientific event that brings together health professionals and researchers interested in promoting surgical research.
This event seeks to expose novel surgical techniques and share the results obtained in their clinical application, promote the integration of surgeons in training and early stages of their specialization to become national and international leaders of R&D&I in surgery, as well as contribute to the process of digital transformation of surgery with projects related to assistance, teaching, research, and innovation.
Among the fundamental pillars of this congress is the promotion of care and technological innovation in surgery, as well as promoting, encouraging, and disseminating quality basic, translational and clinical research related to any of the surgical specialties.

The National Symposium on Training in Laparoscopy and Surgical Robotics is a scientific event organized by the Spanish Society of Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery (SECLA; https://www.seclaendosurgery.com/) and the Jesús Usón Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre (CCMIJU), which brings together health professionals interested in laparoscopic and robotic surgery.
The symposium aims to provide an update on the theoretical and practical knowledge of laparoscopic techniques and robotic surgery, from their experimental development to their clinical application. On the other hand, during the scientific sessions, new surgical techniques will be presented, and the results obtained in their application will be shared.
The goal of this forum is to integrate resident doctors and specialists in formative debates on minimally invasive surgery in various specialties, such as General Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Gynecology and Urology.
Likewise, live visualization of surgeries will be offered with interactions between surgeons and assistants, both in the field of laparoscopic surgery and robot-assisted surgery. This will be accompanied by a series of practical workshops on a simulator and experimental model for the practice of laparoscopic and robotic techniques.
This symposium is an excellent opportunity to keep up to date with advances in surgery and share knowledge with healthcare professionals from all over the country.

The “Thematic Network focused on Development and Validation of Support Systems for Diagnosis of Colorectal Cancer using Artificial Intelligence”, AI4polypNET, aims at gathering efforts of different Spanish entities from Catalonia, Extremadura, Galicia, and the Basque Country.
Under the umbrella of the iSMIT congress, AI4polypNET organizes a challenge focused on polyp detection, localization, segmentation, and classification. In this challenge, teams will compete to develop the best performing methods in the proposed tasks for a given set of images. Teams will be given a set of guidelines and rules for a unified comparison framework.
Important dates will be announced on the AI4polypNET website (https://pages.cvc.uab.es/ai4polypnet/).
